XML DataFeeds are used to easily and efficiently keep other Websites, Agents, Portals and information distribution partners updated with your property details, rates and prices.
Datafeeds save you lots of time and enable new business. A datafeed replaces a process where you manually update a third party site. Everyone is limited with time, so you can only update a finite number of sites. A datafeed either is active all the time providing realtime datafeed integration or typically runs once a day usually at night.
By replacing the manual update process with an automated datafeed you are either free to do something else or work on sites which do not have a datafeed capability.
Typical datafeed information includesSome datafeeds support multi-lingual operation, for example property and accommodation descriptions. accommres can support these. "Bullet point" features and amenities are pre translated, so you do not need to do this - accommres does it for you.
We have a variety of live datafeeds. There are always datafeeds under development. If you need a specific datafeed which you need and we do not have it, then just ask. accommres is designed to support data feeds. So adding them is easy and we do not usually charge for the development of a new datafeed.
Specifications
Some datafeed specifications are very simple others are complex. Simple ones usually can only handle a small amount of information and support a limited number of items - for example property types. Many sites will only support a few property types for example Villas, Apartments, Hotels and a few others wherease RightMove.co.uk can support over 60 including Riads, Caves and others. Whilst not relevant for everyone what is vitally important is that accommres which "drives" all the datafeeds can support all the data which may be required. So when we develop a datafeed we make sure that accommres can support "ALL" of the data. Make sure any other product you consider does the same.
Types of datafeeds
There are three types of datafeed and accommres supports all three.
1. Property details
This datafeed is typically used by property listing sites, like ThinkSpain, RightMove, PrimeLocation and Kyero. The Datafeed will include property information, long term rental rates, sale price and sometimes basic short term vacation rental rates (high/low values). These datafeeds run daily or sometimes weekly.
2. Agents and Tour Operators
Usually property details are not part of datafeeds with Agents and Tour Operators. These are manually configured in advance and usually contracts are completed for each property. We could do this, but the Agents and Tour Operator systems "set the rules" - they usually can not provide a datafeed interface for property details.
Agents and Tour Operators have datafeed interfaces for Rates and Availability and also an interface for Bookings/Reservations which are generated by the Agent or Tour Operator. These datafeeds are realtime. So as you update something in accommres then within a few seconds the datafeed updates the Agent and Tour Operator. However, the manner in which you work with an Agent varies greatly. This can be in rate structure, the type of rates, allocations and other factors. Implementing a datafeed to an Agent or Tour Operator is something which we look at in detail and then configure. These datafeeds are not simple "setup and it's live" types like property listing sites.
3. Search Engines
The "web" part of accommres like most systems uses databases to store information on properties and then "provide pages on the fly" as they are required by a visitor to your website. Whilst great for a visitor, this can cause problems for search engines as there is no easy method of "spidering" pages on the fly and adding them to their search engine database.
accommres has a solution. We use a specification provided, supported and approved by Google, Yahoo and MSN to work out all the different page combinations in advance and then tell the search engine how to process all the pages. Whilst there are no guarantees when the search engine will process each page, we find that in most cases, search engines do process all the pages and information.
Important
Datafeeds are the future. All the major Agents, Tour operators and property listing sites are releasing interfaces so that products such as accommres can move information back and forwards. Make sure whatever product you choose for your business that it can support XML datafeeds. If not you may be wasting your money. We are already involved in "deals" with Property providers and Agents where, if the an XML datafeed can not be used then the deal will not happen. A two tier world is evolving - those with datafeeds and those without. Those without are restricted with manual website updates and in some cases denied access to business opportunities.
Money
As a general rule we do not charge for development of datafeeds. Once we develop one it can be used by others. However, the "other end" of the datafeed (Property listing site, Agent) may require payment one way or another. This payment may be a subscription fee or commission related.
e21Software charges a monthly fee for "ALL" of its online services of which Datafeeds are only a part. Usually provision of datafeeds by accommres is included within this payment and is separate to any other fees you may need to pay to the other site. Contact e21Software for further information. |
