Online Syncronisation "Sync"Silently accommres communicates changes to accommodation, availability and prices, booking information and other information to and from our online servers every few seconds. Syncronised informationIf your internet connection is lost or if you connect using dial-up both ends continue to operate uninterrupted. This ensures that your business never stops. When your internet connection is restored the system syncronises everything which has changed. IntegrationIf your accommres is integrated to 3rd party supplier equipment, the sync will add transactions found to guest accounts for example TV usage, Telephone calls and Bar/Restaurant charges. The processThe sync process must run on one PC. Use the settings option to determine if the process will run automatically or if it must be manually started. The sync process is controlled by the "Sync Manager" Locate the sync manager icon on the desktop to start the sync manager process.
The sync manager has various controls. The sync can be started, stopped, "flushed", paused and then resumed. Click what you want the sync to do and then click the big "Do it NOW" button. If you try to close the sync and it will not, then you have a network/database problem. In this case you must use Ctrl-Alt-Del and the "Windows Task Manager" to stop the sync. If this problem persists then you must contact e21Software for advice. After start After a few seconds the initial window will minimumize and the toolbar (bottom right) should look like this
The globe is the icon for the sync process. If it is running ok it will be surrounded by a green border. If there is no internet connection it will turn red. It runs every few seconds and will reconnect to the internet itself should the link be lost. If you put your mouse over the globe a hint will appear telling you what the sync process is doing. Red globe If the colour surrounding the globe is red then you have had or have a problem with your internet connection. The sync should correct itself as soon as your connection returns to normal. However, if it does not 1) Check that your email works and you can browse the internet 2) If everything seems ok stop the sync and start it again using the Sync Manager 3) If the sync still will not run, contact e21software support ProblemsThe main causes of problems which prevent the operation of the Sync process are 1) Firewalls. If a firewall is used between your computer which runs the Sync and our server (probably provided by your Internet Service Provider) it may block access. You will need to contact them to open access. They may want to know the "IP address" of our server so that they can ensure security for you and e21Software. Please contact e21Software to discuss Firewall access. 2) Viruses. It is essential that you are running Anti-Virus and Internet Security software to protect your Internet connection. If you do not you may find that your computer becomes infected and your connection to our server may become blocked. Internet security software may also block the sync. You will need to contact the person responsible to allow the sync to run on your PC. "OVER" units |
