The above screenshot is the index (home) page for the demonstration data site included in SiteClone. Each page you want SiteClone to build in a site must be included in this option. If SiteClone is only handling "cloned" pages for an existing site then none cloned pages do not need to be defined, although they will need to be included in the " Menu" section of the site. TagsSiteClone will manage the Tags defined in the <head> part of the cloned page. Please note the tags must be defined in the "Style" page. If so the values will be replaced by those defined above. TitleThis is very important to Search Engines, particularly Google. Do not use many words and make sure those words relate to the content of the page and the description line. It is used to create the "Title" tag. LanguageSiteClone currently supports: Dutch English French German Italian Portuguese Spanish StyleChoose the "Style" to be used for this page from the "Styles" you have added to this "Site ". This will determine the layout of the page which is built and the content required by the "Content" section below. NameThe actual name of the page. The Menu will link to this. DescriptionThis is very important to Search Engines. This text should be approximately 200 characters in length and reflect the content of the page. Try to include words used in the Title and important Keywords. It is used to create the "description" tag. Reply-ToThis is an email address which can be used to contact the designer of the page. It is used to create the "reply-to" tag. KeywordsThis is very important to Search Engines. Add as many keywords and phrases which reflect the content of the page. Try to include words used in the Title and Description. Do not use the "," in an phrases as this is used to separate all keywords when the page is generated. Do not use any other punctuation. This is used to create the "keywords" tag. Charsets, Robots, Distribution, RatingLeave these set to their default values unless you know how to use them. They are used to create the "charset, robots, distribution and rating" tags. If you have selected more than one language then "utf-8" will be used as the charset. This ensures that hints in other languages (used by the language flags for navigation) are shown correctly. ClassificationSet the Classification of the page to reflect its content. This is used to create the "classification" tag. RevisitThis instructs Search Engines when to visit the site. If you are going to change the content of the pages you will want search engines to come back to your site and re-index the pages. Some Search Engines will use this setting to come back. This is used to create the "revisit-after" tag. <script> TagsYou can add css style sheets and/or .js (javascript) libraries using this function for use by this page. Each one will be added to the "tags" part of the html page before the </head> tag. This can be very useful if you want to add something later, for example code for a Google search function. Just drop the code supplied by Google in here and then "Build the site". This page will then have the new function. ContentAll pages have different content. This is defined using the "Content" button. Each div defined in the " Styles " option is presented in turn. In the demonstration example div's text-info, page-image, main-text and h1tag were defined. When the "Content " button is selected the content of the text-info div can be edited. Use the "left/right" arrow button to scroll through the different div's changing the content where required. Please note that none of the changes are saved until you select the "Close" button and then select the "Save" button. Carriage ReturnsIn the following example the content is "text" and not html code. In this case each line either needs a <br> tag manually added or the "Free Format Text" needs selecting which will add one automatically when the page is built. Without this the text will look like Have a great time withMyHolidayCompanyWehave the best holidaysWe have the best resortsWe have the best value....Selecting "Free Format Text" will ensure that carriage returns are applied correctly.
The above content is for the text-info id in the home page of the demonstration site. Plain text has been used which is the easiest for none html skilled people to use. Please note "Free Format Text" has been selected (see Carriage Return above).
The above example is for the main-text div on the home page of the demonstration site. This time the text includes html tags to add formatting. Skill level / Content design considerationsThe demonstration example style "standard" assumes the user has some html skills. The image located on the page is defined in the layout html style as id page-image (in red). <tr><td valign="top"><div id=text-info></div></td><td valign="top"> <div id=page-image></div></td></tr>The text in red is replaced by the following content.
Each different page will require the text between the quotes following the alt= and the text between the quotes following the src= to be replaced. If this is considered too complicated for the user then look at Style "standard_v2". This one has another div defined "page-hint ". The demo_layout_v2.html code is modified as follows: <tr><td valign="top"><div id=text-info></div></td><td valign="top"><img align="right" alt= " <div id=page-hint></div>" src="<div id=page-image></div>"></td> </tr>Now when the page content is defined the user will use two forms - one for the hint and enter Holidays in Spain and France and the other for the image name ../images/home_spain_france.jpg. This no longer requires the manual entry of any html code but takes longer as there are now two forms/windows to complete. Once you have defined at least one page you can start building the site. Site MapIf you want a Site map page to be automatically generated define a page called "Site_map". You must also add the following code in one of the Page Content forms. <div id="site_map"></div> In the demonstration example we have used the text-info "field". When the site is built a site map page (list of all pages with links to them) is generated using the Style layout defined for it. |
